What happened to Felicia?

I survived my first experience with a hurricane in Hawaii! Hurricane Felicia, who was forecasted to hit the lovely state of Hawaii as a category 2, lost strength and did nothing more than give us a day of rain and some high surf advisories (the surfers were ecstatic!). It was good to be prepared though.

There was beautiful weather for the weekend, but we had a small jellyfish infestation around the beaches, so we went to the waterpark instead. It's a pretty small park, but has some interesting rides- here's a picture of us on The Tornado!

To My Pudge

From college apartments, to road trips to Ohio, to living in sunny Florida and moving across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii, my cat, Pudge, has been a wonderful companion through my life. But after being sick for about a year and a half, it was her time to go and she passed away on Saturday morning. I will miss her always and remember her nose kisses, comforting purr and loving snuggle forever.

A day at the office.....

I'm lucky enough to have a job where I don't have to do the same thing every day. Some aspects of my job become boring and routine (that's why it's called a job), but I do get the opportunity to change things up. For example, I got to go diving last Thursday....for work.

Kerry, Bernardo, Rodney and Jason

While I'm out on a cruise, I get to do a lot of diving, however, when I'm back at the office, we have to maintain our diving proficiency and keep up our skills. We were conducting calibration dives to ensure that our data are similar between observers.
Here I am showing off the Pinnacle Defense System!

Friday night, we celebrated Aloha Friday (OK, so every Friday is Aloha Friday, but it's an excuse to go out) in Chinatown. We started out at Indigo's for chocolate martinis, made it to JJ Dolan's for pizza (the best on the island), and finished the evening with a nice Guinness at O'Tooles. Plus, we paused for the obligatory pose by the fountain......
